Joan W. Alheim

Joan W. Alheim, 78, a resident of Saratoga St., passed away peacefully Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Wesley Health Care Center.

 

Born January 1, 1939 in Schuylerville, NY she was the daughter of the late John and Ethel Wood.

 

Mrs. Alheim was a lifelong resident of Schuylerville. She retired in 1999 from Schuylerville Central School where she was the Business Manager for many years.

 

She was a communicant of Notre Dame-Visitation Church, member of the St. Anne Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters and traveled to Canada with the St. Anne Retreats several times. She had been an active 4-H leader, Cub Scout Leader of Pack 13, Treasurer of the Schuylerville Dollars for Scholars, and member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling with her family to Cape Cod and Florida.

 

Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, Lawrence P. Alheim of Schuylerville; her children, Lawrence P. Alheim Jr. (Billie) of Clancy, Montana, Jody Barnes (John) of Troy, NY, and James J. Alheim (Michelle) of Greenwich, NY; 9 grandchildren, Erin, Chase, John (Jessica), Adam, Kevin, Andrew, Tyler, Kara (Daniel) and Faith; 3 great grandchildren, Max, McKenna, and Hannah; brother, John G. Wood (Nancy) of Gaithersburg, MD; Aunt Frieda Lomasney of Saratoga Springs; cousins Raymond Wood and Daniel Makely; several nieces and nephews.

 

A funeral service will be held at 10am Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Notre Dame-Visitation Church in Schuylerville with Rev. Martin Fisher, officiating. Spring burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
