Obituary of Richard N. Booth

Richard N. Booth, 79, passed away peacefully Monday, January 18, 2010 at his family home in Easton, the same house where he was born. Richard was surrounded by his loving family when he quietly succumbed to the ravages of Parkinson’s disease. Born in Easton August 2, 1930 on the family farm, he was the son of Waldo and Mabel Orr Booth. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Clarence and Elwaine Booth, and sisters, Ruth Pratt and Sylvia Bradt. Survivors include the love of his life, his wife, Rita Sanders Booth, whom he married on December 23, 1950, of Easton; 1 daughter, Laurell Roberts and her husband Daniel of Gansevoort; 4 sisters, Elsie Roberts of Greenwich, Mabel Nevins and Eleanor Wood of Schuylerville, and Mary Golden of Saratoga Springs; 2 grandchildren, Scott and Logan Roberts; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. For many years Richard ran the family dairy farm in Easton. After the farm was sold in 1962 he started his own construction and roofing business, named Schuyler Construction Company. After completing many buildings and repair projects at Hollingsworth & Vose he was offered a position with the company. He retired in 1992. Richard enjoyed building, gardening, and working on his lawn. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He loved visits from nieces, nephews, sisters, grandchildren and his old friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 5pm Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Flynn Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave. Schuylerville with Rev. Bonnie Bates, officiating. Spring Interment will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery Schuylerville. Friends may call on Thursday, from 3-5pm prior to the service. The family suggests memorials in his name be made to Hospice of Washington County.
