Obituary of Joseph G. Ellis

Joseph Granger Ellis died February 4, 2010 at his home following a long battle with cancer. He was 65. Joe was the triplet son of the late James B. Ellis Sr. and Lucy (Larmon) Ellis of Bald Mountain. Joe was a graduate of Greenwich Central School and The Modern Welding School in Schenectady, NY. Upon graduation from welding school, Joe was hired by the Fort Miller Company and was employed there until his retirement in 1999, following 32 years of service. Joe loved the outdoors, especially caring for his lawn and garden, long walks in the woods with his grandchildren, deer hunting, turkey hunting, four-wheeling or just being outside enjoying the trees and sunrises and sunsets. Joe was a quiet man always willing to help anyone who needed it whether he knew them or not. Joe was a great fan of NASCAR racing, New York Yankees baseball, and Redskins football. Joe especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors besides his mother include his wife of 43 years, Lucinda (Dixson) Ellis, his daughter Barbara Ellis of Middle Falls, his son Jeffrey Ellis of Argyle, his grandchildren Jason and Jennifer Wilbur of Middle Falls; sisters, Dorothy (David Sr.) McFee of Bald Mountain, Patricia (Edward) Sullivan of Cinnamonson, NJ, Pamela Ellis of Fort Miller and Louise Symansky of Troy; triplet brothers, James (Roxanne) Ellis of Salem and Jay Ellis of Bald Mountain, his brother Jerry (Cathy) Ellis of Salem; aunts Mary Larmon of Bald Mountain and Hannah Larmon of Fort Miller; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charlie and Diane Dixson of Easton; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held from 5:30 – 8 pm on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Flynn Bros. Inc., Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich. A funeral service will be held at 11am Monday, at the funeral home with Jean Malone, spiritual counselor with Washington County Hospice officiating. Spring burial will be in the Greenwich Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to Washington County Hospice, 415 Lower Main St., Hudson Falls, NY 12839. The family expresses their deep gratitude to family, friends, neighbors, Flynn Bros. and especially everyone at Washington County Hospice for their dedicated help during a very difficult time. All was very much appreciated.
