Obituary of Radan Jennings

Radan "Randy" Jennings, 61, lifelong resident of Greenwich, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, November 20, 2014 as a result of a short, but courageous battle with lung cancer. Randy was married to Donna (Nash) Jennings in 1972 and together they raised 3 loving daughters. Born on December 2, 1952 to Jeremiah and Rosalie (Weir) Jennings, he grew up in close proximity to the Old Station Inn on the "West End" of Greenwich where he had many fond memories of family and friends. He was a graduate of Greenwich Central School and worked in his younger days at the Golden Fleece. Randy would easily be recognized throughout town because of his employment with the United States Postal Service for 33 years. Randy was also active in coaching youth baseball and softball where he taught not only lessons on the field, but valuable lifelong lessons for off the field. In addition, for years, he shared his vast knowledge of music by writing a weekly review column of new music for the Greenwich Journal and Salem Press under the name Randy Records. He would later use this name for his DJ Service for which he provided entertainment for numerous events. While Randy usually preferred to stay close to home, he would travel with family and friends to several NFL games featuring his beloved New England Patriots. His love of watching football was something he shared with his friends as well as bowling, playing softball, and golf. After retiring, Randy didn't need much to make him happy and spent his time enjoying golf, e-bay, music, movies, and football Sunday on his favorite stool. Most recently, he could be found in the presence of his 6 grandchildren ending each visit with a "Grandpa hugger". Randy was a member of the Greenwich Elks Lodge #2223 BPOE , Sons of the American Legion, Liberty Squadron 515 and a communicant of Saint Joseph's Church. Randy will be greatly missed by his family, circle of friends, and community. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Donna (Nash) Jennings of Greenwich; 3 daughters, Stacey (Kevin) Randall, Sarah (Kristopher) Boice, and Shelley (Eric) Dupuis; 2 brothers, Jay Jennings and John Jennings; 6 grandchildren, Megan and Morgan Randall, Sophia Boice, Hunter, Victoria, Erica Dupuis; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, November 24, 2014 at St. Joseph's Church in Greenwich. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 2-5pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main Street, Greenwich. Memorials can be made in his memory to the Easton Greenwich Rescue Squad, PO Box 84, Greenwich, NY 12834.
