Obituary of David W. Larmon

David W. Larmon, 85, a resident of Burgoyne Rd., passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Wesley Health Center in Saratoga Springs. Born March 25, 1929 in Saratoga Springs, NY he was the son of the late Asa Ray and Marion Althea Hodges Larmon. Mr. Larmon was a graduate of Schuylerville Central School and attended Adirondack Community College. He served with the US Navy from 1947-1952, and had been a member of Old Saratoga Post #278 American Legion. He worked at the Post Office in Saratoga Springs for 25 years. He and his wife Betty, owned and operated Timmy's Newsroom and Stewarts Ice Cream on Broad St. in Schuylerville for many years. He was also employed at VanPatten Golf Course in Jonesville for 16 years. He was also a member of the Schuylerville United Methodist Church. He loved basketball and baseball, and was an avid NY Yankee fan. He coached his daughters' softball team for several years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his 2 brothers, Ray and Milton "Bud" Larmon. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betty Jean Davis Larmon of Schuylerville; 2 daughters, Susan (Jimmy) Fitzgerald of Ponte Vedra, FL and Barbara (Steve) Lapitsky of Gansevoort; 5 grandchildren, Todd, Brian, Katherine, Shawn and Steven Ruhle; 1 great granddaughter, Emma Grace Steepe, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11am Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Schuylerville United Methodist Church in Schuylerville, with a reception to follow. Burial will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials can be made in his memory to the Schuylerville United Methodist Church, 51 Church St., Schuylerville, NY 12871.
