Obituary of Winfred John Pfeiffer

Winfred John Pfeiffer Jr. passed from this life and was united with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 18, 2015. Born on May 9, 1930 in Defreestville, he was the son of the late Winfred J. Pfeiffer Sr. and Ella (Sager) Pfeiffer. Raised on their farm in Grafton, the family moved to their farm in Easton in 1944. He met the love of his life Jacqueline Perkins on a blind date at a dance at the Odd Fellows Hall in Greenwich. That date turned into a loving marriage of 64 years. He was a devoted husband and a dedicated father. In addition to his wife, left to cherish his memory are his six children; John Pfeiffer and his fiancé Ruth Waldron of Spencerport, NY, George Pfeiffer (EJ Vandergriff) of Greenwich, Christine (George) Lauzon of Cambridge, Bonnie (James) Pfeiffer of Melrose, Linda (James) Green of Trenton, GA, Carol (Steven) Besanceney of Greenwich, and Diane Pfeiffer of Salem. He will be greatly missed by his 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. His brother, Raymond (Barbara) Pfeiffer resides in Cropseyville. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Pfeiffer and Miriam Nessle. Family, friends, and neighbors know John as a hardworking dairy farmer who operated Archdale Farms. He was well known for his Registered Ayrshire Cattle. He was a member of the Ayrshire Breeders Association for many years, Yankee Milk and Argi-Mark Co-ops. Whether showing cattle or the many 4-H projects, John could be found helping his children prepare for the Washington County Fair. He worked in service to his community, serving as Easton Town Councilman, The Easton Volunteer Fire Department, and as a member of the North Cambridge Methodist Church, having served as President of the Cemetery Association and Board Trustee. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich, with Rev. Virginia Cornell officiating. Friends may call from 4 - 7 Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to be made to the North Cambridge Methodist Church, C/O Richard Thomas, 96 Kenyon Rd, Greenwich, NY.
