Obituary of Mark D. Poirier

Mark D. Poirier Sr., 76, a resident of Beaver St., passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital after a long illness. Born October 20, 1938 on his grandparents farm, in the Town of Saratoga, he was the son of the late Red and Dee Beagle Poirier. Mr. Poirier had been employed for 27 years at Hudson Pulp and Paper, and then retired after 19 years with the Town of Saratoga. He enjoyed hunting and took great pride in his yard work. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Mark D. Poirier Jr. in August of 2014; his brother, Lee Poirier; mother-in-law, Ethel Stine; and brother-in-law, Fred Hicks. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Patricia Stine Poirier of Schuylerville; his children, Sandra (Stan) Moore of Bennington, VT, Michael (Jo-Anne) Poirier of Kinston, NC, Denise (Anthony) Perrotta of Bennington, VT, Michelle (Dawn) Poirier of Pownal, VT, and Dave (Crystal) Poirier of Schuylerville; the mother of his children, Karen Poirier of Bennington, VT; his siblings, Clara Hicks of Saratoga Springs and David (JoAnn) Poirier of Easton; sister-in-law Bonnie Poirier of Roxboro, NC; father-in-law, Andy Stine of Schuylerville; grandchildren, James (Jessica) Whalen, Hannah Perrotta, Abby (Phil) Cummings, Jennifer and Danielle Poirier, Nathan Rowe, and Anthony Dean; great grandchildren, Simon Cummings, Channing Poirier, and Drayden Whalen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 pm Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Schuylerville United Methodist Church with Pastor Al Johnson, officiating. Friends and family may gather at 3pm prior to the service and are invited to stay for a fellowship meal following the service at the church.
