Obituary of Shirley M. Coon

Shirley M. Coon, 81, a resident of Greenwich passed away suddenly Thursday, February 19, 2015 in Middle Falls. Born May 27, 1933 in Greenwich, NY she was the daughter of the late Russell and Etta Mckernon. Shirley enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends and playing the slot machines at various racino's across New York State. She was involved with many church activities at the Bottskill Baptist Church and was the Vice President of the Greenwich Senior Citizen's Organization. Shirley enjoyed going on various trips with the senior citizens group. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert "Zip" Coon; daughter, Cathy Besanceney; and brother, Charles Mckernon. Survivors include her loving children, 3 daughters, Darlene (Allan) Wilson of Greenwich, Valerie (Brandon) Linnett of Greenwich, Roxanne (Leroy) Thomas of Cambridge; 1 son, Russell (Vickie) Coon of Bellow Falls, VT; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Beverly Moy of Easton, and Muriel (Stu) Mowrey of Greenwich; and 1 brother, Robert (Emilyn) Mckernon of Greenwich. A memorial service will be held at 10am Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Bottskill Baptist Church, 32 Church St, Greenwich, NY, 12834 with Rev. Sandra Spaulding , officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorials in Shirley's name may be made to the Bottskill Baptist Church, 32 Church St, Greenwich, NY, 12834.
