Obituary of Patrick J. Richards

Patrick J. Richards, 63, a resident of Broad St., passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 20, 2015 at Saratoga Hospital. Born October 19, 1951 in Saratoga Springs, NY he was the son of the late Clarence and Arvessa Richards and Daniel Atwell. Mr. Richards was a US Marine Corp Veteran having served from 1972-1974. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Rifle Marksman Badge, and the Letter of Appreciation dated 1973. He was a former member of the Saratoga National Cemetery Honor Guard. He had been employed by the Palmetto Fruit Co., drove Taxi, was a flagman for Niagara Mohawk, worked security at Saratoga Hospital and Skidmore College, and was a janitor at BOCES in Saratoga Springs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, coin collecting, cooking, gardening and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a nephew Matthew Richards. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Terri Periard Richards; his children, Joseph Richards (Jeanean), Brian Richards, Crystal Richards (Justin Flanders), Eric Richards (Heather) and Alisa Richards; 4 grandchildren, Miranda Carey, Chiann Richards, Edward Fish, Aubrey Richards; 2 great grandchildren, Janessa Richards and Serenity Carey; 3 brothers, John, Michael, and David Richards; 2 sisters, Sandra Gailor, and Barbara Mikuta; dear friend, Neil Trachtman; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Devon Periard; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 7pm Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville, NY 12871. Friends may call on Thursday from 5-7pm prior to the service. A military service will be held at 10am Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the Saratoga National Cemetery. Memorials can be made in his memory to the Schuyler Hose Company or the Old Saratoga Reformed Church.
