Obituary of Charles C. Spellman Sr.

Charles C. Spellman Sr. 89, a resident of Washington Center passed away peacefully with his family by his side Monday, May 4, 2015. Born May 1, 1926 in Saratoga Springs, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Harriet (Osborne) Spellman. Charles was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #7291 in Greenwich. He enjoyed fishing with his granddaughters and taking care of his flower and vegetable gardens. In his free time Charles enjoyed woodworking. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Elinor Spellman and son-in-laws, Donald Miller and Reginald Gaida. Left to cherish Charles memory are his children, Charles C. Spellman Jr. of Greenwich, Deborah Miller of Greenwich, Marilyn Gaida of Greenwich, Donna (Elton) Bradley of Fort Edward, Susan (Rick) Lampman of Greenwich; stepsons, Larry Martinelli of Rotterdam, Todd (Lorrie) Martinelli of Rotterdam, Allen (Lisa) Eichstadt of Rotterdam, and stepdaughter Maureen (Mel) Hitchcock of Cobleskill; sister, Bertha Gravlin of Greenwich; 29 grandchildren and 58 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11am Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871. There will be no prior calling hours. Donations in Charles memory may be made to Deborah Miller, 55 Bleecker St, Greenwich, NY, 12834 to help defray funeral expenses.
