Obituary of Bertha G Gravlin

Bertha Gravlin, 87, a resident of Easton, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, June 4, 2015 with her loving family by her side. Born February, 15, 1928 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Hattie Spellman. At the age of 2 1/2 she was adopted by Charles and Ethal Dean. Bertha graduated from Washington Academy in Salem, NY. Her biggest joy in life was her family and spending time with them. Bertha was employed at B.J. Farms as a produce stand operator, Nancy Shoe Company in Hoosick Falls, and the Central Lunch in Greenwich. She was a member of the Greenwich Senior Citizen Association, the Cambridge Senior Citizen Association and the VFW Auxiliary. Bertha was an avid Bingo player, no matter what was going on, she never missed Bingo at the Middle Falls Fire House. In addition to her parents, Bertha was predeceased by her husband's, Frederick Gravlin and Roger Perkins; her sons, Roger John, Jeffery Charles, and David Lynn; her grandchildren, Paul Boyce and David Perkins; and her brother, Charles Spellman. Bertha is survived by her daughter, Juanita (William) Boyce of Easton; her son, Paul (Bea) Perkins Sr. of Easton; grandchildren Eva Manney of CT, Patrick and Billie Jo Boyce of Easton, Paul Perkins (PJ) of Easton, Paul Perkins II and Ada Kennedy of Cohoes, David Perkins of Florida; 21 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Greenwich Cemetery with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating. A celebration of Bertha's life will be held following the graveside service at the Middle Falls Fire House. The family wishes to thank the Washington County Hospice for all their support. Memorials in Bertha's name can be made to the Easton Greenwich Rescue Squad, Middle Falls Fire Department or the Centenary Methodist Church in Greenwich.
