George Wolfe

Obituary of George R. Wolfe

George R. Wolfe, 72, died unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 3, 2015 at his Ferry Street residence. Born May 28, 1943 in Victory Mills, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lucille (Blair) Wolfe. George was a dedicated son, caring for his mother from a young age. One of his proudest accomplishments was providing around the clock home care for her during her final years. He was a rock for his family and friends. Everyone could go to George with their problems. He would find them solutions and assist in any way he could. George was an extremely hard worker in his career and personal life. He could always be counted on when you needed help. He was the first one there, did the most work, and never stopped until the work was complete. He was always a social person with the ability to talk with anyone for hours at a time. One of his favorite past times was sitting at a kitchen table, drinking coffee while visiting with family and friends. He was always the center of any gathering. Nothing made George or his grandchildren happier than the time they spent together playing. He was one of the children, swimming, playing hide and seek, wrestling, singing or letting them give him a makeover. No one could tease and work the children up better than George. He was a long time devoted husband, whose love for his wife only grew over the years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Wolfe and sisters, Margaret "Midge" Kelly, Beverly Kent, and Dorothy Young. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carol (Noble) Wolfe; son, Terry (Jennifer) Wolfe; daughters, Tammy (Douglas) Lawrence and Debra Wolfe; grandchildren, Bryant Lawrence, Ella, Parker, and Sophia Wolfe, and Kiya Ferguson-Wolfe; sisters, Catherine Wadsworth and Barbara Cook; also several nieces and nephews Friends may call from 5 to 7 pm Friday, Aug. 7, 2015 at Flynn Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave. Schuylrville. At 7 pm following the visitation a service will be conducted by Pastor Jason Betts of the Wilton Baptist Church. The family suggests memorials in his name be made to the Wilton Baptist Church, 755 Saratoga Road, Wilton, NY 12831.
