Obituary of Hugh F. Dewey

Hugh F. Dewey, 77, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015 in the arms of the lord surrounded by his loving family. Born July 29, 1938 in Cambridge New York, Hugh was the son of James and Flora Dewey. Hugh graduated from Greenwich High School and attended Cornell University. Hugh was the Town of Greenwich Highway Superintendent for over 15 years. He was a member of the Middle Falls Fire Department for many years. Hugh enjoyed working outside, gardening, camping and woodcutting. His hobby after retirement was creating scarves for family and friends. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son Jeffrey Dewey, daughter Sharon Perkins; grandchildren Jamie Perkins, great grandchildren Sage Irwin and Ryan Yando; brother James Dewey Jr. and sister Janet Watkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Marie Dewey; children Cyndi (Steve) McKuhen, Bonnie Jo (Scott) Dewey, Tina (Peter) Perkins, Danielle Darrow and companion(Chris Phair), Daniel (Kate) Langlois; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be held from 11-2 pm Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the Centenary United Methodist Church, 1 Gray Ave, Greenwich, NY, 12834. A funeral service will be held at 2pm with the Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwich Cemetery with a celebration of Hugh's life immediately following at the Middle Falls Fire Department. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church, 1 Gray Ave, Greenwich, NY, 12834 or a charity of the donors choosing.
