Obituary of James P. Darling

James P. Darling, 51, a resident of Hill St. passed away suddenly after a long battle with heart complications, Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born June, 14, 1964 in Westwood, NJ, he was the son of James Darling Sr. and Paula (Jancek) Shipley. Jim courageously survived two open heart surgeries where he never lost the will to live despite overwhelming health challenges. Jim was an avid Steelers and Yankees fan. He graduated from Queensbury High School in 1983. Jim was very devoted to his family, he took great pride in being a father to his daughter Brittney and Papa to his grandson Carmine. Jim enjoyed passing along his knowledge of the outdoors, sports, and assembling slingshots to his grandson Carmine. He met the love of his life Ingrid in 2005 while working together at Warren Washington County Mental Health, they later married in 2007 where Jim became an honorary member of the Aldous clan, where they loved him very much. Jim was well known for his sarcastic whit and playing practical jokes on his family. He spent his final days with the boys in Easton where he would work on cars and hunt. He was predeceased by his stepfather Buddy Shipley. Survivors include his loving wife of 10 years Ingrid (Aldous) Darling of Greenwich; daughter Brittney (Mike) Darling of Hellertown, PA; grandson Carmine Armao; parents James Darling Sr. and Paula Shipley; brother Paul Darling of Glens Falls; sister Laure (Ron) Lamy of Queensbury, and his niece and nephew Sydney and William Lamy; Cody Briere who held a special place in his heart and his dog MO. Friends and family may call from 6-8 Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Flynn Bros Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St, Greenwich, NY, 12834. A mass of a Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at St. Joseph's Church, 36 Bleecker St, Greenwich, NY, 12834 with the Rev. Martin Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Easton Rural Cemetery, Easton, NY. Donations in Jim's name may be made to the Easton-Greenwich Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 84, Greenwich, NY, 12834.
