Obituary of Helen H. Ruddock

Helen H. “Wheels” Ruddock, 78, passed away June 8, 2016 in her home on Bleecker Street. She was born June 24, 1937 in Pittstown, the daughter of Frank and Edythe (Banker) Humphrey. She was a 1954 graduate of Greenwich Central School. She lived in Greenwich while her children were young working in various capacities in the Greenwich schools and local hospitals. She moved to California for many years where she was a school district secretary. It was in California that she developed a love of wilderness hiking. She moved back east in the early 1990s where she lived in Connecticut and worked at the Newington Veterans Administration Hospital. There she continued a love of painting with watercolors. On retiring she returned to Greenwich where she has lived since, serving as an elder and clerk of session of the United Church. She was lovingly known as Grandma Wheels to those close to her. In addition to her parents she was pre-deceased by her daughters, Sarah Ruddock, Elizabeth Ruddock and Susan Lang. She is survived by her special friend Bill O’Malley; sister Mabel Keays of Greenwich; sons William Ruddock and his spouse Eldonna of Michigan Center, MI, Richard Ruddock and his spouse Tim Sheperd of Troy; daughter Jennifer Considine and her spouse Barry of Troy; grandchildren Thomas and David Ruddock, Matthew, Phillip, and Rachel Lang, and Tyler and Hannah Considine; great-grandson Haiden Zinzow. A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at 10:30 am Monday, June 13, 2016 at the United Church, 37 Salem St, Greenwich, NY, 12834 with the Rev. Tom Davis officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
