Obituary of Frederick R Coulter

Frederick Robert (Bob) Coulter, 73, died surrounded by loved ones on August 13, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Born July 22, 1943 in Cambridge, NY, Bob was the son of Frederick Robert Sr. and Sylvia (Booth) Coulter. In 1961 Bob graduated from Greenwich Central School where he participated in several sports. He continued his love for football by playing on the Green Jackets team after high school. Bob is known locally for all the years he operated Bob’s Shell on lower Main Street in Greenwich. In 1984 he joined the carpenter millwright union. His most recent employer was Kesslering Site Operations in Ballston Spa where he remained until his retirement in 2004. On August 7, 1965 Bob married Mary Woodard. They were together for 51 years until Mary’s death on August 8, 2016, just 4 ½ days before his own death. He was also preceded in death by his father, Frederick Robert Coulter, his mother Sylvia Booth Coulter and his brother David Francis Coulter. Bob is survived by his sons, Corey Coulter of Halfmoon, NY and Cody Coulter of Greenwich, NY; grandson, Christian and granddaughter Meghan; 4 sisters, Helen (Richard) Brownell, Easton, NY, Jean (Cliff) Waters, Hudson Falls, NY, Mary (Robert) Olbrycht, Amsterdam, NY and Rosemarie Morrison, Glens Falls, NY. During his years of retirement, Bob continued to keep very busy. He set up his own machine shop and he built a beautiful pagoda for his wife. Ever the perfectionist, every job was done well, with great care and forethought. Bob loved the outdoors and took great pleasure in both fresh water and salt water fishing. He also loved playing poker with his many good friends. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 PM on Monday, August 29 at Flynn Bros. Funeral Home, 80 Main Street, Greenwich, NY, 12834. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
