Obituary of Mary M. Larmon

Mary Ellis Larmon, 98, peacefully passed into eternal rest Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in the presence of her compassionate care givers and family. Born on December 28, 1917 in Thompson, NY, Mary was the youngest child born to John B. and Mary Granger Ellis. As a young child, her family moved to Ft. Miller where she attended the rural schools and later Schuylerville School, graduating with the class of 1935. On August 31, 1940 she married Franklin S. Larmon and moved to the Larmon Farm in Bald Mountain and spent the rest of her life there. Together they raised 5 children. She was a caring dedicated mother and a loyal supporter of her husband in the farming life, where she was involved in keeping the books of the business. Mary has been a member of the Fort Miller Reformed Church since 1942 and an active member of the Vereengheit Circle since 1959. She faithfully served her Lord and her church. Over the years, Mary enjoyed sewing, especially making quilts, camping, vegetable and flower gardening, cooking and family gatherings. She was an avid reader and possessed a great sense of humor. After Frank’s death in 1986, she particularly liked going on senior citizen trips with her friend Rachel Foss. Mary had a special fondness for cats and dogs, having several at any given time. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her son John (Jack) Larmon; grandsons Brad Beelen and Jeremy Larmon; great-granddaughter Tricia Myers; sisters Minnie Ellis and Lydia Davis; brother James Ellis; sons-in-law David Humiston and Harry Beelen Survivors include her loving children, sons Robert Larmon and Thomas Larmon; daughters Susan Humiston and Sally Beelen Eddy; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Fort Miller Reformed Church at 12pm Tuesday, August 23, 2016 with the Rev. Rich Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow in the Bacon Hill Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. Family and friends may call from 11-12pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Mary’s memory to the Fort Hudson Healthcare Facility Building Project or the Fort Miller Reformed Church. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Fort Hudson (“B” Wing) for their compassionate and excellent care Mary received while a resident at the facility.
