Obituary of Joshua James Demarest

Joshua James Demarest, 13, a student at Greenwich Central School passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 13, 2016 as the result of a tragic accident. He was born June 15, 2003 in Newton, NJ to Todd and Rachael Jiles Demarest. Joshua loved sports especially football, lacrosse and was a player on the Greenwich modified soccer team. Some of his favorite sports teams were the Denver Broncos and Adirondack Thunder. He was a sweet, caring and compassionate young man who was always worried about everyone else but himself. Josh loved making people laugh and was often found playing jokes on people. Teachers, coaches and friends described his humor as infectious and his personality brimming with a fun-loving spirit “His smile lit up the room. He was hard working, sweet and extremely kind. He was looked up to by his classmates” said his 6th grade homeroom teacher. He was active in French Club at the Jr. High School. Like many 13 year old boys, Joshua was extremely active and enjoyed spending his time outdoors with friends and family. His parents were very proud of his accomplishments, he was a high honor student and was an all-around good kid. Josh was predeceased by his grandmother Pamela Gair Robinson Mahan on the same day of his passing. He was also predeceased by his paternal grandmother Elaine Karen Bauerlein. Left to treasure the memories he made are his mother Rachael Demarest, his father Todd Demarest; siblings Emily, Sarah, Ryan, and Tyler Demarest; half-sisters Shauna and Alexa Demarest; half-brothers Brandon and Austin Demarest; loving grandfather Efton Jiles and his partner Christopher Pierce of Greenwich; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
