Obituary of Robert M. Galusha

Robert M. Galusha, 92, a former resident of North Broad St., passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Albany. Born December 4, 1924 in Fort Edward, he was the son of the late Howard and Frances DeMaranville Galusha. Mr. Galusha was a US Army Veteran of WWII. He was wounded in Belgium and received a Purple Heart and Two Bronze Battle Stars. He retired as a machinist from Scott Paper in Fort Edward where he had worked for 40 years. He enjoyed gardening and having yard sales. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Alice Nevins Galusha; daughter, Cathleen Lewie; brother, William Galusha; and 3 sisters, Helene Robinson, Velma Nelson and Beatrice French. Survivors include his son, Gary (Michelle) Galusha of Day; granddaughter, Kayla (Mark) Ricardo of Bolton, CT; 2 great grandchildren, Dominic and Aubriella; and several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Cousin Jeannie who helped care for Bob later in life and along with Paul made the weekly trip to the VA hospital to visit, to Pat Spolyar, a volunteer who visited Bob weekly and always brightened his day, and to the staff of 9C at the Stratton VA who provided excellent care for Bob these past few years. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 2 in the Bacon Hill Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
