Obituary of Charles H. Weir

Charles H. Weir, 90, a lifelong resident of Greenwich passed away peacefully in his sleep at home, his favorite place to be on Tuesday, October 24,2017 with his loving family by his side.

He was born October 27, 1926 in Easton, NY to the late John and Rosalie Genter Weir.

Charles most cherished moments were spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at his home.  He loved his wife Joan’s cooking, they were married for over 61 years.  He was a true patriot enlisting in the US Army in 1946 just as WWII was in its last days.  He worked at H & V in Clarks Mills for over 30 years.   Charles was a simple man who didn’t need material things to make him happy.  He loved to feed and watch his birds in the backyard, watch cars go by and take naps in his favorite chair.  Charles always put his family first before his own needs.  He will truly be missed.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Benjamin Weir, Ernest Weir, Ivan Weir and John “Bud” Weir; sister Rosalie Jennings.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 61 years Joan Kelly Weir; sons Kevin (Terry) and Christopher Weir; daughter Darlene (Gary) Gendron; grandchildren Carrie Young, Jonathan Boyce and Brad Weir; great grandchildren Kendal, Olivia, Rowan, Lainey, Kailey and Hannah; sister Margaret Harrington; several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St, Greenwich, NY, 12834 with the Rev. Tom Babiuch officiating.  Burial will follow the service at 2:30pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.

Immediately following graveside services, family and friends are invited to a reception at the Greenwich VFW, 63 Abeel Ave, Greenwich, NY, 12834.

Family and friends may call from 11:30 to 1:30pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
