Obituary of Linda D. Godfrey

Linda “Waymo” Simon Godfrey, 70, a resident of Greenwich, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 4, 2017 at home with her loving family by her side.

She was born August 10, 1947 in North Adams, MA, to the late Charles and Charlotte Simon

Linda grew up in Massachusetts until her early teens, then moved to Greenwich.  She met the love of her life William E. Godfrey when she was thirteen and married him when she was sixteen in 1963.  She loved to make cakes and decorate them for several weddings throughout the years, also she got a kick out of watching Tyler Perry’s Have and Have Nots on TV.  She was a hard worker and worked for Covidien Catheter Company in Argyle for fourteen years and the National Catheter Co. for ten years.  Linda loved her two crazy birds Bella and Ollie, and she recently grew fond of “Pops” cat Matuchit.  Her soft top GEO tracker aka “The Intimidator” was her favorite vehicle despite her children hating it, Sherry’s traffic circle rogue horn story was a family favorite and her powder puff Gremlin was another story.  Linda’s most precious moments were spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her daughter Sandra Lee Godfrey; sister Charleen Meczwor; brother David Simon; several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years William E. Godfrey; children Sherry (Randy) Godfrey,                        Stacey (Aaron) Godfrey, William D. (April) Godfrey all of Greenwich; grandchildren Edward Godfrey, Sandra (Dan) Baldewicz, and Matthew (Rosie) Godfrey; great grandchildren Jack and Alexis Godfrey; brothers Danny (Chrissy) Simon of FL, and Jerry (Bonnie) Simon of Greenwich; sisters Judy (Phil) Collins of FL, Sandy (John) McKowen of FL, and Rosie Fitzgerald of Greenwich; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St, Greenwich, NY, 12834 with the Rev. Sandra Spaulding officiating.

Burial will follow services in the Greenwich Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7pm Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the funeral home.
