Obituary of Susan B. Garnsey

Susan B. Garnsey, 82, a former resident of Northumberland, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Slate Valley Center in Granville. Born April 8, 1935 in Montpelier, VT she was the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Lang Brooks. Mrs. Garnsey was a graduate of Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Troy and worked as a Registered Nurse at Saratoga Hospital for many years. She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, the Schuylerville Garden Club, and Card Club. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and hosting wonderful holiday gatherings. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul Zene Garnsey; 1 brother, Thomas Varley, and 1 sister, Clara Charron. Survivors include her children, Zene Paul (Marcia) Garnsey of Schuylerville, Neal Brooks (Laurie) Garnsey of Wilton, Richard Thomas (Shannon) Garnsey of Wilton, and Claire Garnsey (Timothy) Wood of Grangerville; 1 brother, Richard Varley of Saratoga Springs; 8 grandchildren, Sarah Allison Garnsey, Audrey Zene Garnsey, Gabrielle Susan Wood, Paul James Wood, Anissa Garnsey, Elizabeth Garnsey, Johanna Williams, and Andrew Williams; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2pm Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 1 Grove St., Schuylerville with Mother Donna, officiating. Spring burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Schuylerville. Friends may call on Monday, January 8, 2017 from 4-7pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville.
