Obituary of Raymond A. Young
Raymond A. Young, 83, a resident of Pond St., died Thursday, November 11, 2010 at his home. Born June 16, 1927 in NYC, NY he was the son of the late Viola Steglik. Mr. Young was a US Army Veteran having served during WWII. He had been employed at Hollingsworth & Vose in Thomson, West Virginia Pulp & Paper in Mechanicville, and Schuylerville Central School for many years. He was a member of Old Saratoga Post #278 American Legion in Schuylerville and Greenwich Elks BPOE #2223. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed camping, and playing cards. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred Young; 1 daughter, Linda Martin; and 1 brother, Theron Young. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Williams Young of Victory Mills; 2 sons, Walt Young (Dawn) of Wilton and Lawrence Young (Eva) of Greenwich; 2 daughters, Mary Gregg (Norm) of Schuylerville and Debbie Martis (John) of Victory Mills; stepchildren, Leon Nash of Argyle, Ervin Nash (Billy Jo) of Queensbury, Cassie Nash of Schuylerville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Notre Dame-Visitation Church in Schuylerville with Rev. Liam Condon, officiating. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5-7pm at Flynn Bros. Inc.
