Bonnie June Davis-Clauss

–

Greenwich, New York

Bonnie J. Davis-Clauss, 69, a resident of Greenwich, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Glens Falls Hospital, following a brave fight against cancer. Bonnie was born on April 11, 1957, in Binghampton, NY to the late Edward and Verna (Brown) Davis.

Bonnie was a beloved wife, mother, teacher, and friend, her spirit was a radiant mixture of humor, intelligence, and kindness, always ready to light up the room with her sharp wit and captivating stories. Throughout her life, Bonnie's love for music and education guided her path, leading her to earn a bachelor's degree in music from the College of St. Rose and a master's degree in music education from Ithaca College. A lifelong educator, she dedicated her career to inspiring young minds at various schools, most recently Greenwich Central School, where her students' artwork and photos were her cherished keepsakes.

Bonnie was a woman of many passions. Her love for music was not just limited to her profession, but also resonated in her spiritual life, where she served as the Bell Choir and Worship leader at Centenary Methodist Church in Greenwich. She was an avid reader, a fan of the Big Bang Theory, and her devotion to the soap opera Young and Restless was so fervent that her lunchtime viewing wasn't to be disturbed. Although her husband Rich was the household's primary cook, Bonnie was the reigning queen of baking, delighting everyone with her pumpkin bread, Welsh cookies, and strawberry rhubarb pie. Her culinary experiments also led her to her favorite dish, pizza, which she often enjoyed with an array of veggies for a healthier twist.

Yet, the joy Bonnie derived from her hobbies and achievements paled in comparison to the happiness she found in her family. Her daily weather reports to her children were just one of the many ways she expressed her love and care for them. Bonnie's humorous side often emerged in her playful grammar and punctuation corrections - the teacher's touch in her never really switched off. Her love for animals was profound, often going out of her way to pet every dog she met, and she and her daughter Amanda would travel to the Westminster Dog Show. Bonnie and Rich would spend blissful hours watching birds, the cardinal being her favorite.

Bonnie loved to travel with her family, especially to Ogunquit Beach in Maine, where the New England Food, Ocean air, and quaint shops were a delight. Bonnie always lived each day to the fullest, she was an avid reader, and she enjoyed her 6:30 am YMCA sessions with friends.

She was devoted to her family, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Bill Cooper and Eugene Jensen and brother-in-law, Ronald Briggs.

She is survived by her husband Rich Clauss whom she married on October 15, 1994; her loving children, Amanda (Owen) Cline-Taylor, Matthew Clauss and Ali Clauss; her sister, Donna Briggs; brother-in-law, Mark (Kathy) Clauss; special friends, Cathy Seary, Jill Morris, and Melissa Weatherwax.; several nieces, nephews, grand dogs and her beloved dog Frankie.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org

Family and friends may call from 9 to 11 am on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Centenary United Methodist Church, 1 Gray Ave, Greenwich, NY, 12834. Her funeral service will immediately follow at 11 am, followed by a reception for family and friends in the church basement.
