Carol M. Buckley

–

Greenwich, New York

Carol (Gander) Buckley, a longtime resident of Greenwich, New York, died peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Saratoga Hospital. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Born and raised in Albany, Carol was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rita (Stevens) Gander and a graduate of Mercy High School. She met her future husband, Charles “Charlie” Buckley, as they served as a bridesmaid and groomsman for mutual friends. That meeting began a life together that included 55 years of marriage.

Carol loved watching cooking shows, reading cookbooks, and finding new recipes to try when friends came for dinner. She also enjoyed knitting, tending to her garden, and going for walks. She treasured the friendships she shared with Cathy, Sheila, Sally, and her sister-in-law Bette, whose companionship meant so much to her over the years.

Among the traditions Carol most looked forward to, were the yearly trips to Cape Cod with her sister Martha’s children: Tammy, Rebecca, Sara, and Brian. Following Martha’s death, Carol remained particularly close to them and their children. Their time together was precious to her and sustained a family connection she held dear.
Above all, Carol loved her family. Her grandchildren were a particular source of joy and pride.

Carol was predeceased by her parents; her parents-in-law, Burdette “Buck” and Edith Buckley; her sister, Martha Green, and brother Joseph Gander.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie; daughter, Jenna (Matt) Piunti; grandchildren, Grant and Madeline; sister, Veronica “Ronnie” (Fred); sister-in-law Karen Gander, sister-in-law, Bette Flynn; and nine nieces and nephews.

Carol will be deeply missed. She leaves her family and friends with memories of meals together, summer trips to Cape Cod, and the pride in her voice whenever she spoke about her grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Carol’s family requests that those who wish can plant a tree in Carol’s honor somewhere special or in an area of need, which can be done on her memorial page. We invite you to share your memories, stories, and photographs of Carol on her memorial page at www.flynnbrosinc.com.
