Carole J. Murphy

–

Greenwich, New York

With a spirit as vibrant as her beloved flower gardens, Carole Jane Murphy, 89, a resident of Greenwich, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Saratoga Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Glens Falls, NY, on March 27, 1937, to the late Joseph and Catherine (Carroll) Murphy.

In this life she etched her mark on the world and the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. A pillar of strength, love, and resilience, Carole was deeply rooted in her community and her family, blossoming in the roles she embraced throughout her life. Her legacy, like the aroma of her famous baked beans and turkey dinners, will linger in our hearts and homes, reminding us of the beautiful soul we have lost.

Carole was a woman of many passions. She was a devoted fan of the NY Yankees, often lighting up the room with her undying enthusiasm. Her garden was her sanctuary, a place where she nurtured her plants with a tender touch, just as she did with those around her. But perhaps her most cherished role was that of a loving wife to the late James J. Murphy Sr., for 63 unforgettable years, and a doting mother to her children. Carole's culinary skills were renowned, her home-made hot dog sauce at the ballfields in Greenwich winning many a heart. In later years, she found joy in shopping and lunch outings with her children, sharing laughter and creating memories.

Carole's professional life was marked by dedication and diligence. She worked at a Catheter Manufacturing plant for over 20 years, exhibiting a strong work ethic and commitment. Her life was a testament to the beauty of simplicity, the joy of shared moments, and the warmth of love and family.

She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Carlson (James); son, James J. Murphy Jr.; nieces, Patti Foy, Erin O'Malley McAvoy, Maureen Buell, Noreen Reynolds, Sue Murphy and Kienan Robinson; step granddaughter, Erica (Nolan) Cuevas and her children, Ella and Ava Cuevas.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James J. Murphy Sr.; her son, Phillip Murphy; siblings, Frank, William, Donald, Thomas, Jerry, James, Richard and John Murphy, Mary LaNoir, Joan O'Malley, Helen Viele and Ann Mosher; and daughter-in-law, Stacey Murphy.

Graveside services will be private at the convenience of the family at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Donations in Caroles memory may be made to the Easton-Greenwich Rescue Squad, PO Box 84, Greenwich, NY, 12834 or St Jude's at www.stjude.org.

"A mother will only ever be in one of three places; In front of you to cheer you on, behind you to always have your back, or next to you so you aren't walking alone".

Carole's departure leaves a void that can never be filled. But we take solace in the memories we shared, the love she gave, and the life she lived. We invite you to share your memories of Carole, and upload photos to the memorial page at www.flynnbrosinc.com ensuring that her legacy lives on, just like the perennial blossoms of her cherished garden.
