Greenwich, New York
Dale Jessica Shephard of Greenwich, NY, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at the age of 78, after a short illness, surrounded by the love and care of her family.
Dale was born on April 22, 1948, in Brooklyn, NY, to Sarah Frawley Stabner. Her family moved from Brooklyn to Levittown before settling in Wantagh, NY. After graduating from Seaford High School, Dale worked at Hofstra University and later joined Pan Am Airlines in the Personnel Department, where she enjoyed the wonderful perk of extensive travel that came with her job.
In 1970, Dale went on a blind date and met the love of her life, Kevin. What began as a blind date became a 54-year love story filled with laughter, family, and an unwavering partnership. After they married, Dale and Kevin moved “out east” to East Quogue, NY, where they began their life together. Dale served as President of Seashore Fuels, the fuel oil company she and Kevin owned together, working side by side as partners in both business and life. In 1989, they moved their family to Greenwich, NY, where Dale, Kevin, and their girls quickly became part of this amazing community.
Dale held many jobs over the years, but none was more important or brought her more joy than raising her girls.
Her greatest joy was her family and her close friends. Dale was a force of nature—a fierce protector of the people she loved and of the ideals she held close to her heart. She loved her country and was a strong supporter of our Military, Police, Fire, and EMS services.
Some of Dale’s greatest memories were the births of her children and the annual family trips to Lewes, Delaware, where the entire family would gather together. She loved the beach, flip-flops, lighthouses, trips to Ireland, and the New York Yankees. But there was nothing she loved more than being “Grammie” to her nine grandchildren.
Dale was predeceased by her mother, Sarah Stabner, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Bertha Shephard.
Dale is survived by her husband, Kevin; her three daughters and their families: Jessica and Rick Schwerd and their children, Ted, Kevin, Anna, and Nora; Angela and Ben Cronin and their children, Emma, Megan, and Michael; and Kathleen and Chris Todaro and their children, Cali and Cade. She is also survived by her brothers, Cliff Stabner (Lynn) and John Stabner, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and dear friends, including Marlene O’Donnell and Pat Despres.
A Celebration of Life Open House will be held at Christ the King Chapel on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 12:00–4:00 p.m. A blessing will be held at 12:30 p.m. with Reverend Marty Fisher.
In true Dale fashion, please dress casual and wear your favorite pair of flip-flops in her honor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dale’s memory to the Children’s Craniofacial Association, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by facial differences.
