Valley Falls, New York
David Gerard Trabka, loving husband, father and grandfather, was born on February 3, 1957 in Buffalo, New York, and died peacefully on November 23, 2025, at his home in Cambridge,
New York. He is survived by his wife Maria of 49 years and their daughter Elizabeth “Beth” of Greenwich, New York, who he deeply cherished, and his three grandchildren, Isabelle, Julianna, and Christopher Kuzmich, who lit up his life. He is also survived by his six siblings, Susan, Alan, Amy, Thomas, Eloise, and Ellen, his in-laws, six siblings-in-law and many longtime friends.
He is predeceased by his parents Eugene and Helen Trabka.
He attained a bachelor’s degree in computer science and math from the University at Albany in 1982 and worked as a computer programmer in the early days of chip circuitry, as an electronics assembler, and as a woodworker.
David loved jazz, reggae, roots, and soul music his whole life and wrote songs and played rhythm guitar and bass in two bands, the Idle Sons of the Very Rich and The Stomplistics.
His DJ talents consistently filled the house, the car, and the dance floor during many parties. He spent many enjoyable hours playing and watching basketball, baseball, birds, and boats, especially sailing on Lake Champlain.
David reigned as the “King of Comfort” right up until his final breath. Sitting in his favorite rocking chair looking out the window at his active birdfeeder and favorite view of the Hoosick River Valley and Rensselaer Plateau with a cup of coffee in hand, David flew off quickly, quietly, and completely unexpectedly.
He is being buried on his property in Cambridge, in a natural biodegradable mushroom pod, for those that know him this eternally makes him a “fungi”.
