Denise Marie Wilcox

Denise Wilcox, 72, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in Troy, NY. She was born in Cambridge, NY, on February 18, 1952, to the late Kenneth and Joan (Burns) DeRagon, Denise lived a life of love, dedication, and service from her lifelong home in Greenwich, New York.

A retired Registered Nurse, Denise dedicated much of her life to the care and healing of others, working at Bennington Hospital, Mary McClellan Hospital, and retiring after 20 years of service at St. Peter's Hospital. Her legacy in healthcare is one of compassion, commitment, and unwavering dedication to her patients.

What mattered most to Denise were her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. A steadfast source of love and support, Denise loved her family unconditionally, making every sacrifice necessary to ensure their happiness and well-being.

Denise was married to her husband, Jimmy Wilcox, for 53 wonderful years until his passing in 2022. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, often vacationing in Maine, where they would revel in the simplicity of fresh seafood and the charming sight of boats coming in.

Denise had a profound love for reading, often seen engrossed in her latest book, a testament to her love for learning and her vivid imagination. She was a simple person, who found immense joy and peace in the simplest of things. Denise's spirit, her love for her family, and her dedication to her profession will forever be remembered and cherished.

Denise is survived by her children Bonnie (David) Boddery, Kate (David) Wasserman, James Jr., and Stephen (Jennifer) Wilcox; her grandchildren Emilee (Max) English, Kyle, Gage, and Seth Boddery, Maddalyn Wasserman, Kendyl Wasserman, Hayley Wilcox, and Cameron Wilcox; and her great-granddaughter Ainsley English; her siblings, Yvonne (Paul) Kuzmich, Karen Bain, Kenneth (Tracy) DeRagon, Lynnete (Todd) Pacheco and Sandra Huffer.

Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Joan and Kenneth DeRagon, and her loving husband, James Wilcox.

Family and friends may pay their respects to Denise and her family from 4 to 6 pm on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Flynn Bros, Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St, Greenwich, NY, 12834. Her memorial service will follow at 6 pm with Rev. Melissa Weatherwax officiating.

Spring burial will be held in the Greenwich Cemetery.
