Edward A. Strainer, 96, a man who was known for his love of family and his exceptional talent in carpentry, passed away on August 2, 2026. He was born on May 3, 1930, in Smith's Basin, NY. Edward was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a master craftsman who left an indelible mark on the world and those fortunate enough to know him.
Raised on a farm, Edward evidently inherited the hardworking spirit of his parents, Stanley and Stella. His childhood days were likely spent learning the values of diligence and resilience, traits that he carried with him throughout his life. Edward's heart belonged to Greenwich, where he and his beloved wife, Margaret, made a home filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. However, his adventurous spirit often whisked him away to the beautiful locales of Virginia and the Cape. Edward was a man who loved the tranquility of fishing and the satisfaction of working with wood. Friends and family fondly referred to him as "McGyver," a testament to his resourcefulness and ingenuity. Above all else, Edward was a family man. His unwavering kindness and gentleness were his endearing qualities, and his love for his family was his guiding beacon. Edward was a lifetime member of the Greenwich Elks Lodge #223.
In addition to his parents, Edward is predeceased by his daughter in law Linda Strainer; siblings Walter Strainer, Mary Rotella, Helen Casey and Rose Siaulnski.
