Elizabeth Haley

–

Saratoga Springs, New York

Elizabeth “Liz” Haley, 68, a resident of Saratoga Springs, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, with her family at her side.

Born December 5, 1955 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ruth Patnaude Haley.

Prior to becoming a resident of the Wesley Healthcare Center in 1987, Liz and her family lived on a small farm in Greenwich. She was a talented seamstress who specialized in making dolls and doll clothing. Liz was a communicant of Notre Dame-Visitation Church in Schuylerville and a graduate of Schuylerville Central School.

Lizzie will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit and sense of humor; she always aspired to get the most out of life. After her illness in 1986, Liz worked tirelessly to regain her speech and some physical mobility. She used a pencil to type with one hand, which allowed her to keep in touch with family and friends, to extend her education, and become an award-winning Avon sales rep. She enjoyed outings and holidays with her friends and family, attending important events such as graduations and weddings, and visits with her grandchildren. She had high expectations for the staff at Wesley and loved many of them as family. She was an advocate for personal independence her whole life.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Cydd West; sister Jeannie Sullivan; and brother-in-law Joseph Bena.

Survivors include her children, April (Bill) Hamilton of Greenwich; sons, Adam (Elisa Mussi) and Jesse Brockway of Greenwich; sisters, Lois Bena of Alplaus and Susan (Robert Balch) Mezera of Queensbury; brother-in-law, Patrick Sullivan of Greenwich; grandchildren, William Hamilton, Dutch Hamilton, Jacksyn Brockway, Owen Brockway, Johnnie Brockway and Leopoldo Brockway; many nieces, nephews, and her life-long best friend, Pamela Barber of Schuylerville.

A memorial service will be held at 4pm Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave, Schuylerville, NY. Visitation will be held for family and friends from 2-4pm prior to the service.

Liz’s family is deeply grateful for the care and compassion provided by the staff at Wesley Health Care Center for more than 37 years. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to The Wesley Foundation at https://www.thewesleycommunity.org/wesley-foundation/.
