Joanne Hanna

Joanne E. Hanna, 74, of Greenwich NY, passed away on December 24, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family after a 5-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born April 6, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jane Willette.

Joanne worked for NY Telephone from 1969 - 2003. Throughout her 34-year career at NY Telephone/NYNEX/Bell Atlantic/Verizon, Joanne held various positions and retired as a field foreman for the Adirondack North region.

After retirement, Joanne enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and watching crime shows like NCIS. She is a past President of the Olde Saratoga Seniors and also served as President and member of the Board of Directors for General Schuyler Emergency Squad.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was predeceased by her husband, Darwin “Beatle” Hanna and her brothers Joseph & Gary Willette.

Survivors include her two children, Joseph “J.R” Hanna and his wife Melissa, Ashley Raftery and her husband Bryan all of Greenwich; 1 brother, Kevin Willette and his wife Carole of Maryland and 1 granddaughter, who was the light of her life, her “Darlin Punkins”, Hannah Raftery.

Family and friends may call from 4 – 7 pm on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Ext., Schuylerville, NY, 12871. Her funeral service will be held at 10 am Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the funeral home. Her interment will follow her service at 11 am at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY, 12871.

The family would like to give special thanks to the High Peaks Hospice care team (Cortney, Alita, Morgan and Maria) that assisted in caring for Joanne during her final months.
