Martin Casey “Marty”, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Saratoga Hospital, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and countless people whose lives were made richer by knowing him.
Born on July 31, 1944, at Saratoga Hospital, he was the youngest child of Martin and Dorothy (Mitchell) Casey. Raised in Victory and Schuylerville, he was a true Schuylervillian in every sense of the word. He loved his hometown, its people, and the deep roots that connected him to the community. We affectionately called him “Schuylerville’s Official Greeter”. On most days, you could find him sitting on his favorite bench, waving to passersby as they called out, “Hey, Marty! Or “Hey, Casey!”.
It was such a simple gesture, yet it spoke volumes about the man he was and the place he held in his community. Marty wasn’t just a familiar face in Schuylerville; he was part of its hearts and soul. That bench, those friendly greetings, and his unmistakable presence will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. One of the hardest days of his life was leaving the place he loved because of his declining health. Yet wherever life took him, Schuylerville remained home in his heart.
A lifelong Green Bay Packers and NY Mets fan, his loyalty to both teams never wavered, a reflection of the steadfast devotion he carried throughout his life. Now, at last, he’s reunited with the family he loved so deeply.
In addition to his parents, Marty was predeceased by his siblings and their spouses, Lawrence and Jean Casey, Margaret and Vladimir Pratt, Donald (Michael) and Eleanor Casey, Theresa and Thomas Feenan, Rose and Thomas Haley, and Marcella Casey.
Marty is survived by his brother, John Casey (Gayle) of Vallejo, California and several loving nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
For those of us who remain, saying goodbye hurts, but we also share profound gratitude, for the privilege of having shared in his life. He leaves behind cherished memories, enduring friendships, and stories that will continue to bring warmth and smiles for years to come.
Rest peacefully, Uncle Mart. Your suffering is over, and your journey is complete.
You may have left Schuylerville, but Schuylerville never left you. You will never be forgotten.
