Sherman "Pete" Relyea Obituary (1941

Sherman "Pete" Relyea, 82, a lifelong resident of Victory Mills, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Saratoga Hospital. Born March 22, 1941 in Victory Mills, NY, he was the son of the late Sherman and Irene Blair Relyea. Pete worked in construction, the mills, and for New York State before working and retiring from Schuylerville Central School after 30 years. He was an active member and past President of Victory Mills Fire Department, receiving many awards for participation and drill attendance during his 20+ years of service. He was also a former member of the Green Sabres Drum and Bugle Corp. He was an avid NY Yankee fan, and he enjoyed walking. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 3 brothers, John, Robert, and Charles; and 1 sister, Irene. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Eileen Relyea of Victory Mills; his children, Christopher (Kara) Relyea and their daughters, Nikayla Horton and Madison Relyea, Beth (John) Blake and their daughters, Isabel and Ava Ramos, Laurie (Garry) Miller, Charles (Tanya) Relyea, and Sherman Relyea Jr., as well as their 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 4-7pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Notre Dame Cemetery, Schuylerville. A celebration of Pete's life will follow the burial, at the American Legion Hall, Clancy St., Schuylerville.
