William Henry "Bill" Baker

–

Victory, New York

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of William Henry "Bill" Baker, 72, on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at his home. Bill was a cherished husband, friend, and member of the Victory Mills community. Born on June 4, 1954, in Granville, NY, to the late Henry and Dorothy (Hoyt) Baker. Bill was a beacon of kindness and dedication, touching countless lives with his quiet strength and unwavering commitment to those he loved.

Bill's journey through life was marked by hard work, a trait he exhibited during his career at Hollingsworth and Vose Company in the Shipping and Receiving department. His dedication and perseverance were evident in his work, and these qualities earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Bill's work ethic extended beyond his professional life; he was a sturdy rock for his family, always providing and caring with no limit. Yet, Bill was not all work and no play. His enthusiasm for life was infectious. A diehard NY Giants fan, Bill's love for football was only rivaled by his passion for motorcycle rides, leisurely Sunday drives, and a few Keystone Lights. He reveled in the joy of dancing the night away with his wife, Helene, at the alumni banquet, and cherished the trips they took together. He was a communicant of the Notre Dame Visitation Church in Schuylerville, and he formerly served in the David Nevins Fire Department in Victory. This testifies to his commitment, to community and service.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Kathy (Patrick) Casey.

Bill leaves behind his beloved wife of 27 years Helene (Boyce) Baker; his children, Heather, Buffy, Billy, Ricky, Amber and Logan; siblings, Richard (Julie) Baker and Clarence "Chip" (Jodie) Baker; sister and brother-in-law, Lurana (Keith) Dennison and Scott (Nancy) Boyce; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss his kindness, his wit, and his steadfast presence.

He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, he spoke volumes. His life was a testament to the power of hard work, the joy of simple pleasures, and the importance of love and friendship.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Flynn Bros, Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Avenue, Schuylerville, NY, 12871. His funeral mass will be held the following day at 11 am at the Notre Dame - Visitation Church, 18 Pearl St, Schuylerville, NY, 12871.
