Troy, New York
It is with a bittersweet sense of reflection that we celebrate the life journey of William Joseph Goss, born on September 23, 1948, who peacefully departed from us on December 21, 2025. A resident of Troy, New York, William lived a life of dedication, enthusiasm, and accomplishment that touched many hearts and inspired numerous minds.
William was a remarkable individual, an engineer by profession, with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He graduated from Saratoga Springs High School and further pursued his passion for engineering at HVCC and RPI. He served many years at the Town of Guilderland, lending his brilliance and dedication to the community he held dear. He served his country proudly in the United States Army, during the Vietnam Era.
Upon retirement from the New York State Transit Authority, his insatiable curiosity led him to delve into the world of genealogy, a hobby that provided him with much pleasure and satisfaction.
Outside the professional realm, William was a man of diverse interests. His boundless energy was evident in his love for skiing, duck hunting, and his much-anticipated salmon fishing trips to Nova Scotia. He had a love for jazz music, starting the University of Albany Jazz station in 1980, every Friday night he would be on the air.
He found joy in the simple things, like decorating his home for every season - each decoration a vibrant testament to his zest for life. His hard work was not confined to his profession; it extended into every facet of his life, from his hobbies to his relationships.
He is survived by his dear cousins: Maureen Duval, Diane Gill, John Huprich, Mary Anne Hillman, George Seifried; close friend William McCann.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Michael and Elaine (Menz) Goss.
William will be interred with full military honors on Friday, January 16, 2025, at 2:30 pm in the Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY, 12871.
As we bid farewell to our beloved William, we invite all who knew him to join us in cherishing his memory. We encourage you to visit his memorial page at www.flynnbrosinc.com, to share your stories, upload photos, and leave your tributes.
