Frances R. Billings

Frances R. Billings, 91, passed into the loving arms of Jesus and entered the gates of heaven, Tuesday, November 13, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 25, 1927 in Troy, NY to the late Alfred and Ruth Phillips Wein.

She grew up on a dairy farm in Easton, NY during the 1930’s and attended a one room school house in Barkers Grove and later graduated from Greenwich Central School.  After WWII she married the love of her life a Navy man Clarke Billings.  Together they built a house in Easton, where her son lives to this day, later she moved to Greenwich in 1957 where she lived until her passing.  She was member of the St. Joseph’s Church and she enjoyed her beloved coffee group who met regularly at the Village Café, where they would enjoy each others company over coffee and lunch and shopping at Just Because.  She was a private person but somehow, she knew everyone and always put others first.  Frances was a very caring person and loved her son Leonard very much.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy countless hours were spent helping her daughter-in-law babysitting.  She was a fine cook incorporating her French cuisine especially her coleslaw, the holiday’s will be difficult this year because her famous Gravy which she perfected will be missing.  She will be most remembered by her loving smile and thoughtfulness.

In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her niece Jean Elizabeth Billings.

She is survived by her loving son Leonard (Helen) Billings; grandchildren Shannon Bass and her late husband Garrett, Marcy (Garson) Smith both from Greenwich; great-grandchildren Donovan and Molly Light and Tristan Bass; several cousins and special friends.
