Valerie M. Green Valerie M. Green was born to Irvin and Marie (Pelletier) Murphy on August 23, 1922 in Sackets Harbor, New York. She passed peacefully on September 29, 2020. Valerie first settled in East Greenwich. She was known to take her daughter Florence, Joyce Maxwell, and the Sheffield, Morrison, and Waite girls on many adventures in her Willys Jeep; taking them fishing and swimming up by the railroad trestle along the Battenkill River. Valerie worked at the Salem Shirt Shop where she met co-workers, Mary Al, Muriel, and Marilyn, who would become lifelong friends. Valerie married her late husband, Jay, on January 4, 1969. They were married over 41 years when he passed in November 2010. Valerie loved the outdoors and nature. She and Jay hunted, fished, trapped, and snow-shoed. They took many walks in the woods and drives around the countryside, enjoying the beauty of nature. They also owned three Schnauzers – Rogue, Baron, and Wendy who gave them much happiness throughout their years together. Valerie loved reading, sewing, gardening, flowers, and birds. She enjoyed watching birds as they perched on her window feeder and in the trees. Valerie loved a nice fresh tomato, lemon meringue pie, and pizza. She adored her great grand-children, Lydia and Holden. She enjoyed sharing her mints with Holden, and discussing baking tips with Lydia, who is a master pie-maker. Valerie loved having company, doting on visitors as soon as they came through the door. She insisted on offering juice, coffee, tea, toast, sandwiches, or whatever snack she could come up with. Valerie was predeceased by her parents, Irvin and Marie; her first husband Charles Gaiser; her late husband, Jay Q.
