Obituary of Arnold Weatherwax

Arnold G. Weatherwax, 85, passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 2010 at Glens Falls Hospital. Born January 20, 1925 in Bald Mountain, NY he was the son of the late Herbert L. and Elizabeth (Coffinger) Weatherwax. Mr. Weatherwax was employed over the years at United Box Board Co. in Thomson, NY, Marionett Co. in Fort Miller, NY, Paul Garnsey Logging on Rte 4 in Schuylerville, NY, he painted the Northumberland Bridge in the 1950’s, and retired after 21 years of employment at the Hudson Pulp and Paper Co. in Thomson, NY. He served in the United States Marines during WWII, Asiatic Pacific Area 1943 to 1945 he participated in action against the enemy at Tinya-Okinawa. He was a Private First Class, M-1 Rifle Marksman, AA Machine Gun Crewman. Following his honorable discharge from the US Marines, he met the love of his life and on June 5, 1948 Arnold and Susan Brown were married. They raised their children and spent many happy years together. He was a loving, devoted husband and a wonderful loving, understanding, and caring father. He always made his family top priority, nothing else mattered, his family came first. He loved spending time with family and friends and visiting relatives. He had a special interest in old Ford tractors. He loved spending time with his 2 dogs Jazzy and Brittany and missed Brittany dearly when she passed. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his 3 brothers, Herbert II, Robert (Bill) and Grover (Pete) Weatherwax; and 1 sister, Margaret Bardin. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Susan Weatherwax of Bald Mountain; 3 sons, Glen (Tick) Weatherwax and his wife Dale of Clarks Mills, Thomas Weatherwax of Bald Mountain, Henry and his wife Claudia of Quaker Springs; 1 daughter, Jean Weatherwax of Bald Mountain; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; several nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at Fort Hudson Nursing Home and Glens Falls Hospital for the loving care given to their husband and father. Also, thank you to good friend, Alfred Savelis, for visits to Arnold. Thank you to special nephews, Kenneth and Lehman Brown, Arnold thought the world of you both and was happy to visit with each of you. Friends may call on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 2-5pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville. Spring burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Schuylerville. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Old Saratoga American Legion Post in Schuylerville at 5pm Wednesday, following calling hours.
