Obituary of Leo Valliere Jr.

Leo G. Valliere Jr., 72, of Wilton, and formerly of Newcomb, NY, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Glens Falls Hospital. Born February 8, 1938 in Fitchburg, MA he was the son of the late Leo and Josephine Chassion Valliere Sr. Mr. Valliere served in the US Navy for four years. After his discharge from the Navy he married his beloved wife, Joyce Duval on September 15, 1957. He was a self-employed logger in Newcomb, had worked for the Town of Newcomb Highway Department for many years, and retired from Pallette Stone in Saratoga Springs. He was a former member of the Newcomb Lions Club, a member of International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local #648 in Plattsburgh, and was honorary retired member of Local #294. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Robert Valliere. Survivors in addition to his wife of 53 years, Joyce Valliere of Wilton, include, 3 daughters, Darlene (David) Jensen of Greenwich, Joanne Guljas of South Glens Falls, and Betsy Maynard of Pittsfield, MA; 7 grandchildren, David L. Jensen (Melissa Imbaratto), Tuesday Jensen, Alicia and Jordan Guljas, Caitlin and Danielle Maynard, and Tyler Rougeau; and 3 great grandchildren, Zachery, Allie, and Garrett. A funeral service will be held at 2pm Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich with Rev. Martin Fisher, officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Greenwich. Friends may call on Saturday from 12 – 2pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
