Obituary of Bertha Edison

Bertha Edison, 94, a resident of County Route 113, Town of Easton, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Facility in Argyle. Born December 9, 1916 in Lakeville, MA, she was the daughter of John and Bertha (Mailloux) Porter. She was a graduate of Middleboro High School, Middleboro, MA, and a graduate of St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in New Bedford, MA. Bertha worked as a registered nurse for 40 years and retired from Glover Memorial Hospital in Needham, MA. Bertha was a member of the Easton United Methodist Church, Easton Book Club, and Greenwich Senior Citizens. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Gordon Edison, and two sisters, Irene Welch and Millicent Phister. Surviving are 3 daughters, Sue Castle (Lewis) of Cornwall, VT, Edna DelNegro (Victor) of Easton, and Joan Hastings (Robert) of Saratoga Springs; 8 grandchildren, Robert Hastings of New Jersey, Brenda Hastings of Malta, Lori Sommer of Ill, Jodi La Voie of Malta, Janet Werme of VT, Andrew DelNegro of CO, Diane Welch of Mechanicville, and Jennifer Chu of Hartsdale; also 12 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, February 6, 2011 at the Easton United Methodist Church, Route 40, Easton with the Rev. Sue Cox and the Rev. Virginia Cornell officiating. Spring interment will be in the Easton Rural Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 5 to 7 pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main Street, Greenwich, NY.
