Obituary of Helen Riordan

Helen G. Riordan, 92, a former resident of Route 29, Grangerville, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Stanton Nursing Home in Queensbury. Born January 29, 1919 in Staten Island, NY she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Gladys Kujawa Lewandowski. Mrs. Riordan worked for many years in local factories including the VanRaalte in Saratoga Springs and Angel Soft in Thomson. Most recently she distributed samples at local markets. She was a member of Old Saratoga Post #278 American Legion Auxiliary. In addition to her husband John Riordan, she was predeceased by 2 brothers, Edward and Chester Lewandowski. Survivors include her 2 daughters, Carol (Geof Hoffmann) Parkhurst of Tampa, FL and Diane (Dick) Varney of Greenwich; 1 grandson, John (JP) Barber Jr. of Greenfield Center; 2 nephews, Thomas Lewandowski of Greenwich and Joseph Lewandowski of Grangerville; 2 great grandchildren and several great nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Schuylerville. Arrangements are under the direction of Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville, NY.
