Obituary of Raymond W. Dumas

Raymond W. Dumas, 95, a resident of Liberty Street, died Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Saratoga Hospital. Born February 21, 1916 in Northumberland, NY, he was the son of the late Edward and Grace VanOrman Dumas. Mr. Dumas was employed for 18 years at the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company in Mechanicville. He retired from BOCES in Saratoga Springs in 1982 and worked for many years at the Paramutal window at the Saratoga Harness Track. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council in Schuylerville, Old Saratoga Post # 278 American Legion, was a communicant of Notre Dame-Visitation Church, and had delivered Meals on Wheels in Schuylerville for many years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Emerson Dumas who died in 1983; 2 brothers, Edward and Charles Dumas, and 3 sisters, Delia Peloch, Gladys McMurray, and Florence Kelly. Survivors include 4 sons, Ronald (Linda) Dumas of Saratoga Springs, Jeff (Nellie) Dumas and Darryl (Chris) Dumas of Schuylerville and Ray(Shelley) Dumas of Clarks Mills; 2 grandchildren, Matthew and Katrina Dumas, 2 great grandchildren, Andrew and Sade Dumas, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am Friday at Notre Dame-Visitation Church with the Rev. Martin Fisher officiating. Spring interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Schuylerville. Friends may call 4 to 7 pm Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Flynn Bros Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave. Schuylerville. The family suggests memorials in his name be made to Notre Dame-Visitation Church, 18 Pearl Street, Schuylerville, NY 12871 or to the General Schuyler Emergency Squad, PO Box 111, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
