Obituary of Leneta A. Bell

Leneta A. Perkins Bell, 67, formerly a resident of Bald Mountain Rd., in Greenwich passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Haynes House of Hope in Granville after a courageous battle with breast and bone cancer. Born October 17, 1943 in Greenwich, she was the daughter of Jane Perkins of Bypass Road, Greenwich and the late Donald F. Perkins Sr. Many days you could find Leneta in her flower garden or vegetable garden that her and her husband Harold had every year. They would can and freeze what they grew. Leneta was an avid Yankee fan. If they were playing she was certain to be watching the game. She was also a NASCAR fan and Dale Earnhardt Sr. was her driver. She loved animals. For many years Leneta and Harold helped train Guide Dogs. Her beloved dog Joplin is going to miss her. Leneta was a homemaker but also housecleaned for several people in the community. She loved her windchimes and if anyone knows, if you went to her house she had them in every room and most of them had a story. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her brother, Edward L. (Sonny) Perkins and one niece Stacy L. Moss. Survivors include her husband Harold A. Bell of Greenwich, two daughters, Kelley Bell of Queensbury and Kristin (Brett) Wold, of Greenwich; brothers, George (Pat) Perkins and Donald F. “Skip” (Sue Ann) Perkins, all of Greenwich; sisters Mary (Harold) Moss of Florida and Elizabeth “Libby” Perkins of Greenwich; her grandchildren, Bryan Bell and fiancé Alethea of Hudson Falls, and Bradley Lashway of Hudson Falls; her great grandson, the apple of her eye, Adam Vincent Bell of Hudson Falls; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 12noon Monday, May 2, 2011 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich with Rev. Martin Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Greenwich. Friends may call on Monday from 11am – 12pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials can be made in Leneta’s memory to the Haynes House of Hope in Granville. Leneta’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the house that made Leneta comfortable and loved before her final journey to be with her father and brother.
