Obituary of Fredrick Drumm Jr.

Fredrick W. Drumm Jr., 91 a resident of Schuylerville, died peacefully Monday, Aug. 15, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born June 7, 1920, in Colonie, he was the son of the late Fredrick and Matilda (Lindemann) Drumm. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Doris (Durfee) Drumm , and father of Barbara Eldred, Fritz (Ruth) Drumm, Kathy (Noel) Crandall, Barney (Shirley) Drumm, Kris Drumm, Danny (Cathi) Drumm, Sefi (Chuck) Brownell, Carrie (Dennis) Polmateer. Fred (Poppy) is also survived by 24 adored grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Fred is predeceased by sister Helen (Wendall) Valachovic, and survived by sisters Freda (Johnny) Oberlies, Evelyn (Clarence) Baker, several nieces, nephews and his dear cousin Edward Kaufman. With his wife by his side, Fred enjoyed farming, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, walking, traveling, and gardening. They were often seen on Rt. 4 with their dachshunds during their daily walks. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and fisherman. In his later years, he spent winters in Florida. After retiring from farming, Fred and Doris spent many years traveling in the RV around the country; however, he insisted upon returning in time for harvesting corn. Fred was a natural, gifted handyman and was always available to lend a helping hand to his family with projects around the house. The family extends special thanks to Saratoga Community Hospice, especially Sandy who provided continual comfort and support. Friends may call on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011 at 11:00am, at Memory's Garden in Colonie.
