Obituary of Per O. Moberg

Per O. Moberg 91, a resident of the Town of Easton died Wednesday August 24, 2011 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Born July 14, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of Per J. and Lilly (Russell) Moberg. He was raised in Sweden and served in the Swedish Navy during WWII. Per graduated from the Stockholm Institute of Technology with degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering. He returned to the United States in 1947 and worked for Sperry Gyroscope Co. and retired from New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. His entire life was devoted to the outdoors and the environment. He loved fishing, hiking and canoeing. As a licensed guide, he took many groups into the Adirondacks. Per served as an officer of the ADK, the Sierra Club and was a member of the Easton Town Planning Board. He was an amateur radio operator, N2BFH, for more than 30 years and enjoyed talking with people all over the world, especially those in Sweden. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Brita Moberg Tate. Surviving is his wife Margaret L. Baldwin-Moberg; his daughter Jenny B Rogers (Daniel) of Cambridge and his son P. Christopher Moberg of Standish, Maine. One brother J. L. Moberg of California, and five grandchildren; Derek and Dylan Rogers, Eric, Haley and Donna Moberg. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an environmental group.
