Obituary of Vance Park

Vance Park, 73, passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 8, 2010 at his home on County Road 69 in the Town of Saratoga. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of Roy and Anna (Wadsworth) Park. Vance was a graduate of North Catholic High School and received a BSBA in Building Design and Construction from the University of Denver. His entire career was spent in the construction trade including positions as architect’s representative on such projects as the NY Empire State Plaza, US Steel Headquarters in Pittsburgh, and Seagate in Toledo. In 2001 he retired as Assistant Director of Planning and Construction for Rockefeller University in Manhattan. While a resident of Clifton Park he was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, a volunteer in Indian Guides and Boy Scouts, and as coach for the Junior Plainsman Football League. Since moving to Schuylerville, he has been a communicant of Notre Dame-Visitation Church. Mr. Park is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Valerie Ferguson of Schuylerville and Michele of Schenectady; sons, David of Jackson, TN, Brian of Pittsburgh, PA and Steven of Malta; his brother, Kenneth of Pittsburgh, PA; grandsons, Matthew, Tyler and Ian Ferguson; several cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Notre Dame-Visitation Church, Pearl Street, Schuylerville, with the Rev. Martin Fisher, officiating. The Rite of committal will be in the spring at Notre Dame Cemetery in Schuylerville. Friends may call from 4-6:30pm Friday at Flynn Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville, NY. The family suggests memorials in his name be made to Notre Dame-Visitation Church, Quaker Springs Fire Dept. or the General Schuyler Emergency Squad.
