Obituary of Mary B. Golden

Mary B. Golden, 82, of State Route 4, Stillwater, died Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Facility in Argyle after a long illness. Born December 24, 1928 on the family farm in Easton, she was the daughter of the late Waldo E. and Mabel Orr Booth. Mary was a graduate of Schuylerville School and a communicant of the Schuylerville United Methodist Church. In 1953, Mary began her career with Union National Bank in Troy. After 38 years of service, Mary retired from her position as trust operations officer in 1991. Mary took great pleasure in quilting, shopping, dining out, traveling, and reading thousands of books in her lifetime. For many years, she and her husband enjoyed summers boating on the Hudson and Lake Champlain with friends. In recent years, Mary embraced the challenge of modern technology, purchasing and learning to use a laptop computer and e-reader. Her most cherished moments were spent surrounded by the love and laughter of family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William Golden; 2 sisters Sylvia Bradt and Ruth Pratt, and 3 brothers, Elwaine, Clarence, and Richard Booth. Survivors include 3 sisters, Elsie Roberts of Greenwich, Eleanor Wood and Mabel Nevins of Schuylerville; and several loving nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her greatly. A celebration of life will be held at 1pm Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville. Burial will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Friends may call on Wednesday prior to the funeral service from 11:30am until 1pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made in Mary’s memory to the Easton Library, 1074 Route 40, Greenwich, NY 12834. Mary’s family wishes to express its gratitude to the staffs of Home of the Good Shepherd in Wilton and Pleasant Valley in Argyle.
