Obituary of John G. Coffinger

John G. Coffinger, 78, a resident of Pulp Mill Rd., passed away peacefully Monday, April 30, 2018 at Saratoga Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born September 14, 1939 at home on the family farm in Bacon Hill, NY he was the son of the late Ernest and Eleanor Boyce Coffinger Sr.

Mr. Coffinger retired from Verizon where he had worked for over 30 years.  In his retirement years he worked part time at Walmart in Wilton.  In the 70’s, he and his wife Barbara were big in the CB Club and were known as “Wrong Number” and “Lollipop”.  They were snowbirds and wintered in Lady Lake, FL from 2000-2010.  He was a beekeeper and jewelry maker and enjoyed walking. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Barbara Coffinger in 2016;      2 brothers, Ernest Coffinger Jr. and Thomas Coffinger Sr.; and 1 sister, Carol Huber.

Survivors include his children, Carolyn (Brook) Bean of Greenwich, Melissa (Douglas) Germain of Greenwich, Diana (Derek) Martindale of Schuylerville, and John J. (Tatiana) Coffinger of Greenwich; grandchildren, Matthew (Erica) Goodling, Glenda Bean, Kayla (Chris) McNall, Bradley (Amanda) Germain, Justin (Ashleigh) Martindale, Chase (Rachel) Martindale, Lucas (Eryca) Martindale, Nicholas Coffinger and Alexandra Coffinger; great grandchildren, Carter and Isabella Goodling, Brooklyn Farrell, Brady McNall, Melanie and Felicity Germain; 1 brother, Richard (Ginny) Coffinger of Gansevoort; 2 sisters, Sandra Vaughn of Victory Mills and Janice (Jack) Garrison of W.V.; sister-in-law, JoAnn Coffinger; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Bacon Hill Reformed Church, 560 Route32N, Schuylerville, NY 12871 with Rev. Janet Vincent officiating.

There are no calling hours.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
