Charles Lickwola

Obituary of Charles R. Lickwola

On July 14, 2018 Heaven gained a special angel when Charles R. “Chuck” Lickwola passed away with his daughter by his side.

Charles was born July 17, 1941 the son of John and Rose (Osga) Lickwola.  He was a graduate of Norwich High School in Norwich, CT and then enlisted with the US Air Force.  He served from 1961-1964 and was honorably discharged after being wounded in the Vietnam War.  He received 4 medals, including 2 Purple Hearts, Good Conduct Medal, and Airman’s Medal/ Oak Leaf Cluster.

Chuck worked for many years at the Chase Bag Co. until his retirement.  He was a lifetime member of The American Legion Post #48, #335, #374, #574, the Forty and Eighth #1224, and the DAV Chapter 158th.  He was a proud American Veteran and loved his country.

Chuck was very active in his community, loved gardening, painting, crafts, and enjoyed listening to music, especially Reba McEntire (that’s my girl).  His family and friends will always remember Chuck for his big heart and for the special person he was from the inside and out.  He would lend a hand to whom ever needed it and you could always count on him for anything and everything.  When you met Chuck, you had a friend for life.  He enjoyed raising and lowering the flag while living in Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis J. Lickwola; brother John “Sonny” Lickwola; daughter, Meredith J. Lickwola; stepson, Frank J. Ferren; stepdaughter, Lori Joslyn; and grandsons, James A. and Michael F. Ferren.

Survivors include his daughter, Honey (Richard) Perkins of Mechanicville; stepsons, Steven (Virginia) Ferren of Gansevoort and Frederick Joslyn of Corinth; sister, Elizabeth “Betty” (Norman) Bailargeon of CT; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Chuck will be forever in our hearts.
